North Dakota!, Oil Money, More Hills Again

I believe I left off in my last post stating that I would be stopping in Poplar, MT for the night. After arriving there and looking around, I decided it was worth the thirty extra miles of biking to not stay there (plus I was done hella early). There are a few reasons I didn't think poplar was the best place to sleep. In addition to reminding me of Silent Hill, there were people actually hanging out in alleys, and smashed stuff lined the side of roads.

It was amazing how different Culbertson was, when I arrived there a few hours later. Very Pleasantville. I felt a bit odd setting up my tent in the city park next to the guy mowing his lawn, but I guess I'm getting used to being out of place. The highlight of the next 24 hours was when I went to a diner for breakfast and saw they had "fresh home made caramel rolls". I thought what the heck, I'll get one with breakfast. Look at this!

A giant cinnamon roll with melted caramel all over it!

As I got into North Dakota it got really hilly, but pretty. I went by lots of oil fields.

I decided to camp in Lewis and Clark State Park, which was lovely. I got a great campsite, plus there were showers!

There were lots of families there for the holiday weekend, which made me miss my family and friends.

As the sun was setting a thunderstorm came in and it was so gorgeous! I could see tons of lightning up in the clouds.

Today was a bit of a slog, and a hot one. It's still almost 90 degrees here in Stanley, North Dakota. I'm free camping in the city park.

Well I'm off to cook some din. Hasta luego!
